My name is Laura and I want to personally invite you to my new blog
I am a blogger parent of 2 active kids and a cutey litle baby. We are inspired by travel, nature and creating joy in everyday life. Our family motto is to live by creating memories rather than owning things. Our goal is to build a community, engage in important topics that will inspire one another, share tips, practice living life playfully and to better ourselves each and every day, one step at a time.
Some topics we will be blogging about are;
Traveling with kids
Active, healthy, lifestyles
When I had my first child…
The whole motherhood thing was all new, especially while being in my late 20s and enjoying my freedom in life. I had no idea of how to be a “parent’ or what to do as one. It was unexpected as to how different and sometimes lonely it would feel. Beforehand, I was a traveler, taught yoga to people with chronic pain, dabbled in the arts, salsa danced, made side income as a model/actress and was a student in college. Afterward, everything shifted once I became a “mom.” It was no longer my wants and desires but now having to care for someone else. I am sure you have heard from many mothers that it is an amazing experience and a blessing. But in all honesty, it can be a hard transition. It was ironic as to how much unconditional love I felt and yet trapped. So, I am here to tell you that my perspective during this time was extremely limiting.
Fast forward to now, being a parent of 2 young kids, and one on the way
What I have found that has worked in changing my perspective are gratitude and self-reflection. Its almost like a hidden secret that in giving thanks for what we have, can really start to give us a positive mind shift. As well as self-reflection can help us see what’s working and what is not. This helps us to grow through humility and in the end, helps us to find our joy and happiness in everyday life. Some external options for finding happiness are things like finding a community that can share similar values and beliefs. Connecting with people who are non-judgmental and non-toxic can help us to create a safe environment for ourselves and loved ones. Some communities where you can find this are online via social media groups, playgroups, and local mom groups. Other helpful outlets can be books, meditation, staying active outdoors in nature and traveling. These are all methods that I have used to help me during the parenthood journey.
So new mommas and papas out there
Or those just struggling, don’t worry, it gets easier. Try to stay pro-active, do what you have always loved, find community, and reflect on what is working and change what is not. Be kind to yourself and remember that every day is a new day to start fresh.
